WORSHIP:

We are an inclusive and creative community that moves to an ancient rhythm with a modern beat.  Worship, fellowship, prayer, ministry and service create a sacred rhythm always made new, leading us into God’s future. Whether you’re a searcher, a churchgoer, or just someone trying to figure out who this Jesus is, you‘re in good company. 

Sunday worship nearly always includes communion.  Jesus invited everyone to his table, so we invite everyone to God’s table, too.  We offer at least two distinct styles of worship

Stay with us as long as God calls you to be here. We believe God’s desire for each of us is spiritual health and wholeness, wherever you find it. We don’t presume that we’re the end of your journey, just a part of it.  

8:45 am.  This liturgy is quiet and contemplative featuring psalms, singing, prayer, conversation and simple communion.  The service lasts about 45 minutes and meets in the chancel chapel.  

10:45 am.  This liturgy is our hallmark.  It lasts about 90 minutes and is our largest gathering  It’s lively and participatory with lively singing, sermon and conversation followed by communion.  A church full of musicians help to transform the entire community into a choir.  Kids can stay with their parents for the entire service  There’s plenty of movement to keep anyone interested.   

Baptisms

Baptism is the beginning of the journey, not the end.  Despite historical precedence to the contrary, there’s no need for endless training prior to baptism.  We don’t have a series of classes that you must attend before you‘re baptized, though the via media series is a good place to start.

Baptism is full membership into the faith community.  Nothing more is required.  We do not re-baptize those coming to us from other Christian traditions because we recognize any baptism with ritual water washing in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.  The Church prefers adult baptisms (sometimes called “believer’s baptism”) but we will baptize infants when pastorally appropriate.  Because we believe the faith must be practiced with a community, we are not able to baptize those who do not intend to become an active part of our community.

Weddings
Weddings are special at Trinity Church. We have a space to fit almost any size wedding party in one of the most beautiful settings in Toledo. We know you have questions.  Here are some answers: We need 6 months notice.  Pre-marital counseling is required.  Yes, there are fees.

Funerals
Christian funerals are feasts of the resurrection.  The liturgy is characterized by joy, just like any Easter celebration.  There may be fees for space use and musician time.  The officiating clergy will plan the service with the family members or friends of the deceased. Advanced Funeral Planning is highly desirable for all people. The clergy will be happy to assist you with updatable plans [hyperlink to PDF] that will be kept on file until needed.
